Pharmacy (Apotheke)/Emergency Services.
There are thousands of pharmacy (Apotheke) to buy nonprescription drugs and ask for help with minor health issues and remedies .Most of the Drugs you can only buy with a doctor's prescription (Rezept).
In Germany medicine is apothekenpflichtig that means it is only available in a pharmacy.
A Drug Store (Drogerie) sells all the stuffs like soap, shower gel, tooth brushes, toiletries, Vitamin tablets and other consumer items but not medicines.
A German law requires that Pharmacist should own and operate the Pharmacy.
Pharmacies are open Monday to Friday with normal working hours (8.00am till 6.00pm). On Saturdays they might close earlier. Sunday Pharmacy is closed completely.
If you urgently need medication, other than normal pharmacy working hours then, pharmacy emergency (Apotheken-Notdienst) is opened to buy medicines. You can also visit any local pharmacy, which will have list of address of the closest open Emergency (Notdienst) in the window or on the door. Please note: Normally in the Emergency Apotheke, the Doors will be closed, you have to Ring the bell and then Service person will come and help you. Extra fees are charged for night and weekend Services.
